Tuteify was founded by Nathan Darma in May of 2016.
Realising from both personal experience and hearing of similar experiences from friends and family, it was found that most people seem to have found a tutor/found students to tutor purely via word of mouth.
This presents a number of problems:
For students:
- Difficulty finding a tutor who is capable of teaching the subject they need help with
- Presents a very limited pool of tutors to choose from
- Makes it hard to find a tutor in an area that is convenient to you (whether that be near home or near your school/university/college)
For tutors:
- Difficulty in advertising your services in an efficient manner
- Loss of potential income due to this lack of exposure
After realising this, the solution became clear: create an online database where tutors can create their own profiles to advertise themselves, and allow students to filter through and search for a tutor that best fits their needs.
